I gave into blogging peer pressure :)

Yesterday, I was driving from Austin to Waco with my best friend, Renee. Throughout the car ride, we discussed where we both are in life right now. I mentioned my fears about entering a doctoral program with so little knowledge of the field I am pursuing. Renee spoke of worries regarding leaving her home in Waco and starting life in the "real world." We both expressed frustrations about recent relationships that fell apart or ended unexpectedly. As we talked, I looked out the car window and saw a perfect rainbow in the Texas sky, a complete semi-circle of colors framing the dark clouds above us. We sat in silence for a minute reflecting on the promises of God. No matter what stage of life we're in or what minor annoyances come our way, that rainbow was an answer to our conversation: Our God is trustworthy and He always keeps His promises.

Are things up in the air in your life, too? Look up--a rainbow may be trying to peek through the storm clouds, reminding you to trust in the only One who will never let you down.

  • Fears, moving, ending relationships. Yup, that's the 'real world' for you. Does it ever get easier? In a way, no. But in a way, yes. Next time it comes around, you'll remember that you already lived through it once. You can do it again. And that He was there for you once. And He'll do it again.

Funny how life changes in a year. Makes me VERY excited about the year to come! Will it be scary? Sure. But God is taking me places I never dreamed I could go. And to do that, He takes me places that I'm scared of, He'll call me to places I've never been to, and He'll ask me to end relationships with people I care about. Don't worry. He makes it SO WORTH IT!
